CD/DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs

1. Click Start and then click Run
2.Type Regedit and then click Ok
3. Locate the key:
For Vista
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
For XP
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

4. On the right pane delete Upper filter
5. On the right pane delete lower filter
6. Close the Registry Editor
7. Restart the Computer
